I have patronized New Harbour Cafe so many times but not once did I attempt their siobak...at least until 2 pals mentioned it to be over a span of a couple of days quite unanimously. Raved about it, nearly. So there was I with company was equally excited about pork.

Perfect condiments for a meal of grilled meats!

White Clams Cooked in Beer Stock ($18.80)
Steamed clams cooked in beer stock with garlic, onion and chilli padi
So far, shellfish casseroles have hardly impressed. Not even in Brussels, neither did Belgium inspired Brussel Sprouts and Oosters. This took nearly more than forever to arrive. Think plump clams bathing in beer stock so rich and flavourful, I would just order this from this moment henceforth. Loved the biting taste of the chilli padi at the end. Bravo! If only there were garlic buttered toasts to go with it.

Hainanese Roast Pork ($12.80)
Sliced thinner than siobak cubes, this came with 2 sauces. Sweet bean paste and what looks like Hainanese chicken rice chilli. Crispy skin, melt in your mouth and fats and tender pork...completely sold! They should just convert this into a siobak rice stall in the morning! I term this, crouching tiger hidden pig..deny it not its mighty prowess.

Black Pepper Chicken Chop ($13.80)
Chargrilled chicken with a choice of mash or fries, I thought this was ordinary.

Lamb Chops with Mint Jelly ($17.80)
Nothing too spectacular either.

Crackling Roast Pork ($17.80)
Roast pork with crispy crackling served with daily vegetables, mash and topped with apple sauce
Had I known this is a bigger portion of hainanese roast pork, I would have ordered double portions of the former. As incredibly delicious but the apple sauce made this lose the crisp and crunch of a piping hot dish of roast pork.
Reservations are strongly recommended, they fill up so quickly. Getting their early enough to place your order is yet another challenge, or face at least a 45 minute wait! Having your cutlery placed is just a hint of the long wait ahead.
Dessert is hugely lacking on their menu, unless you do not mind Wall's icecream. Be sure I'll be back for their siobak soon enough!
