October is such a month for birthdays and good food, next to January, February and December...gosh, I really find every living reason and excuse to eat. One of the most important days in October is the sister's birthday and with surprises up my sleeve - I am sure she will enjoy what I have in place this year. Doing away with the traditional Italian, we headed for Italian done the casual American way.
Just a walk down memory lane how previous years have evolved...my lil sister is allll grown up now!
2010 - part one, part two
2009 - t'was a french affair!
2008 - the start of it all

Always bustling with crowds.

Lion King and Kit Chan are the reasons why theaters is super crowded!
Bookings for Mozza are very necessary, I cannot emphasise enough. They do have different seatings through the night but hot timings from 7-8 are hard to come by even with more than a week's notice!

Still a novelty.

Private dining?

Complimentary parmesan crackers, these were not served hot but addictive enough.

Water on the house!

Maybe counter seats next time.

Hungry!

Bacon Salumim Fennel Sausage, Tomato, Mozzarella ($38)
For the meat lover, this pizza was overladen with meat - quite nearly. Bacon, ham and sausage piled on. The sausage needed some getting used to - fennel had a herby taste about it.

An unavoidable grease about this pizza though the pizza bread base was still as good. I was expecting more meat given how the reviews have all said this is for the ultimate carnivore.

Oh yes, particularly loved the freshly shaved parmesan cheese! So different from off the pack, mega loved the melt in mouth texture.

Proscuitto di Parma ($38)
Rucola, Tomato, Mozzarella
Comparatively less complicated than the first, this was a tad soggy and oily with all the ingredients. Still the same grouse about the oil and grease. I wonder if they changed the recipe - did not seem that greasy the last I tried!
Caramel Copetta with marshmellow sauce and salted Spanish Peanuts ($16)
Birthday candle was the best Mozza Pizzeria could do for the birthday dessert. In short - nothing too fanciful that I cannot whip up at home. Belgian waffle biscuit base with two scoops of caramel icecream, melted marshmellows and peanuts. Possibly the only dessert next to gelato that did not require much technique as compared to a gelato pie or panna cotta. Uninspiring flavours though.
I say stick to the pizzas at Mozza Pizzeria. At least it was more satisfying than iL Cielo! Not quite suited for a cosy birthday celebration with the noise level and proximity of tables. Prices seemed to have taken a hike from the last visit.
MBS has to be my favouritest tourist attraction for the following reasons. Somehow with the planets aligned, I managed to capture a couple of favourite shots!

CBD...so charming.

Art and science museum.

All in. :)
