Restaurant Libre Service @ Rue Troyon, Paris

Located in the same lane as Hotel Princesse Caroline, Restaurant Libre Service was a lovely find!

Like noobs and non-French speaking...we walked in asking for a table for four when it was self service!

This has to be the cheapest 4 course alive for European standards...and even in Singapore!

Take your tray and pick out the courses as you fancy.

Shooters, cakes, pies, tarts...the choices are painfully neverending!

Sparkling or still...these are a fraction of what they cost at home..and indulge we did, frivolously.

Salad of carrots-peas-corn, not the smartest move made but it tasted not too bad!

Tomatoes with buffalo cheese, our attempt at Italian in a French country. Love them tomatoes!

Basmati rice with roasted half chicken

After being starved of Asian food through a week and a half, basmati rice was a pleasant find! Grainy and fragrant, I liked how East meets West here. Decent chicken too!

Beef patty with fries, strange or not but I actually did not mind the patty one bit!

Mixed fruit tart

Mixed Berry Tart

Crunchy tart bases with lovely creamy custard...topped off with sweet jellied fruits. As delish as La Perla's Fig Tart? You bet and way cheaper!

Portions are generous, quality of food above average...who cares about self service. This place works like a canteen but coupled with the Parisian experience of people watching whilst having dinner. Who says food is expensive in Paris? Here's on with fantastic location (Just opposite Arc Du Triomphe!) and easy on the pocket. It is perpetually always crowded and surprise or not, I overhead a Singaporean somewhere in the restaurant!
