Bangsar is an enclave for hip cafes and boutique desserteries. Jaslyn Cakes has been touted to be the dessert parlour to check out with its owner honing her skills at Le Cordon Bleu.
Read the chalk board for instructions to order and spot the daily specials. The staff themselves were hardly as warm as Jaslyn - Thank goodness for instagram that helped identify the young owner.
The cafe is a charming gem with fresh bakes greeting me right at the door. Made daily with the finest ingredients, their spread is not meant for the fickle minded.
My idea of a perfect dessert table looks like this - overflowing with freshbakes and layered cakes.
And I zeroed in on one luscious number - nothing fancy, just two red velvet slabs lathered with cream cheese.
I definitely wish I had more stomach space for one of each but that would send myself on a dangerous sugar high.
Red velvet cake it was then. At RM 13.50, it is already local prices without any currency gain. Pricey methinks but sinking my teeth into it, a tad moist with a rich chocolatey aftertaste. The consistency of the cake was different and boy, so easy to love.
Sugar, spice and all things nice.
Worth a visit and probably deserving of all raves. A return is on the cards. This is the kind of place that would make afternoon tea worth waiting for.
