Carvers and Co Revisited @ East Coast Road

signs

I made the mistake of not heeding the owners' advice and headed there for brunch on a weekend and Father's Day as well, of all occasions. Considering it is one of the more underrated occasions that we celebrate, it was fully reserved and packed with people. I reckon we were lucky enough to even get a table by a corner.

Apologies to the company who did not get to try what I attempted the last time since I was all ready to try the rest.

fries

Truffle Fries

Hot and crispy fit the bill for delicious fries already but like most truffle fries overpromise, the truffle was barely there.

bacon chips

Bacon Chips

Still as decadently good - this would be a great trade off for bak kwa. These were a tad oily though but finger licking scrummilicious.

scrambled egg

Breakfast Set

The carvers set was supposed to be ready for sale by 11am but by 12noon they decided the supposed "kitchen hiccup" would end up being a kitchen accident and they will not be selling it at all for the day. We gave into the closest to the carver's set with a slab of over salted cured ham. The flat bread and eggs were delightfully runny and hearty.

red velvet

Red Velvet Cake

Crazy moist - this is the first time I have ever been served warm red velvet cake. This was almost toppled over with a slight jiggle of the plate. Served with raspberries, it had an identity crisis. Tasting almost like blackforest, it was undeniably a light chocolate cake. I am on the fence about loving this as a red velvet cake.

Things may get better at Carvers once the big dates for communal meals are over but until then, weekend meals are not advisable unless you have a ton of patience. Best of luck!
