Platinum Movie Suite Experience @ The Cathay

Special thanks to Jayne for the invite and Cathay Cineplex for the experience!

I could be spoilt rotten with the gold class and now movie suite experiences these days - so much so, I feel cramped going back to economy seats. Nonetheless, with GV's gold class experience some time ago, it was a good experience checking out Cathay's! We were all invited to a closed door screening of a 2011 release - Violet and Daisy, which showcases a pair of teenage assassins. If a rotten tomato ranking is any indication of how watch-worthy it is, you get the drift.

Exclusive check in counter.

So then, I was whisked off to a private lounge (complete with red carpet) for the experience. At the lounge, we could chill over their specially concocted Strawberry Soda - a sweet fizzy drink with strawberry purree to make the already lovely weekend lovelier.

Sweet weekend.

Too early for bubbly but for those who would like top off their experience with a glass...I am sure it would be luxurious!

A rather comprehensive menu with reasonable prices to boot!

comfy

Their seats are spacious as can be and resembled a living room couch!

cushy

Plushy comforters to keep us all warm and a pillow to make the couch resemble a bed. I could just fall into deep slumber with such luxuries.

The main grouse is really the length of each couch, I can imagine how most would have their feet hanging out of the comfortable couch since they are not made to accomodate more than 160cm of me.

nibbles

Snack attack! Popcorn chicken, club sandwich and potato balls made it to the platter and I suppose snacking during a movie completes the experience.

Their latest Platinum Suite has opened at JEM. Tickets are $28 each and online bookings come at a fee of $1.50.

  1. I went on 22/12 for the 12.30 pm show at The Cathay. The Minstrone soup came cold! Fries were not baked well and came cold and soggy n half done! The salsa for the Nachos was bitter tasting - only thing good was the cheese dip! Pizza had a butterfish taste too!

My take : DONT ORDER THEIR FOOD!!

  2. The Cathay Platinum Suites. Just don't order the food.service is slow- they claim 20 mins after order but it came 45 mins later. The minestrone soup was cold and had to slurp it up in the dark:(( the fries were half baked! Soggy ! The margarita pizza had a bitter taste as did the soup - might have been the tomato purée they had used. Only thing nice was the cheese dip for the nachos - again the salsa was bitterish!
