CBD Trail: Soups gone hearty

I am a soup person through and through. Soup Spoon ranks tops for favourite hangout - soups so hearty
because of the chunk factor, just like Ben and Jerry's,

cedele curry pumpkin

Curry Pumpkin
$7.50, Cedele

Curry and pumpkin at face value does not seem that complementary. The golden yellow shade looked delicious, topped with well cooked soft pumpkins…I was in for a treat! Loved how the curry gave this a spicy kick. Loved the pumpkin chunks too. Hearty one!

chicken mushroom

Chicken Mushroom
$7.50, Cedele

Thought this did not match in terms of heartyness, this was a pretty decent chicken soup for the hungry tum.

bread

Not too huge a fan of their rustic breads, the texture perhaps.

green bar pumpkin soup

Cream of Pumpkin
$5.50, Green Bar

Watery gruel-like consistency. Looks like pumpkin but tastes otherwise.

crab bisque

Crab Bisque
$3.50, The Salad Shop

Crab and bisque certainly outsells itself based on name, even with the cheaper cousin of lobster. Shredded crabmeat in watery soup that lacked flavour. Canned soup would have been more gratifying.

lobster bisque

Lobster Bisque
$3.50, The Salad Shop

Watery as can be, this was truly not any better than the crab bisque.

Pumpkin curry

Carrot Soup ($5)
Health Fuel Station

Pureed to a thin consistency, I cannot help but gush how this tastes like baby food. Would prefer a gritty texture for this though. Mini bun was oddly delicious, warm and toasty.

Curry pumpkin cedele

Curry Pumpkin
Health Fuel Station

Pureed like baby food, this lacked spice like pumpkin curry would. Neither flaming fiery nor gentle as a sweetpea, this was mediocre.

Comments

  1. I realized all the soups have the same reddish-orange colour.
