It has become second nature to relate street names with the food that it is famous for. Like laksa is to katong, tau sar piah is to Balestier. I remember hunting down Little Red Shop's tau sar piah at Vivocity and being sorely disappointed.
These are slightly smaller than palm size and stuffed generously with either lotus paste or a savoury filling. Flaky pastry with a fragrant finish. Both savoury and sweet were equally gratifying. At 70 cents a pop, old school flavour and still in Balestier, I say it is as authentic as it should get!
