Even before I headed to Japan, my facial auntie already urged to give Shiseido's cheesecakes a try. Completely sold out in Singapore when they were brought in, I spied them at TANGS basement not too long ago, I had to pay homage to it in its home country.
Located along Ginza, this was hard to miss with the outstanding shade of rouge. Just to digress, every single brand seemed to have a cafe of its own, from Hermes to Chanel to Lipton, Bvlgari to Fancl and Shiseido. Amongst the laundry list of them, Shiseido's got quite an impressive building with takeaway on the ground and cafe on the next couple of floors.
Stepping into the parlour was magical. The way it was created...like a jewelry store with a center display counter with all the treats beautifully laid out. Their baked cheesecake was sold out, as much as I'd love to get one. The thing about Japan is, "sold out" is as common as "new item".
Packed so gorgeously like a christmas present, I have to hand it to them for the wow-factor.
Three mini boxes.
Here's a peek of the supposedly heavenly.
Nicely browned, it resembled a tile.
Flip over and it looks like a portugese cheese tart! The proportion of cheese and crumbly base is surely disproportionate. Tasted just like a block of cheese with a semi-sweet tart base. Not quite getting the huge following of this, unfortunately.
I'll stick with their facials.
