Traditional bakeries like these are a rarity these days, even in Hongkong. I remember only seeing a handful along the way. Highly raved about online, I had to pay 明華餅家 a visit.

Coconut cream bun, 菠羅包 and Luncheon Meat Bun
The buns are really good! Chewy solid dough, totally unexpected when they are priced so cheaply. No clear favourite but we polished them off greedily despite the heavy dinner earlier on.
2 for HKD 5Wife Biscuit & Walnut Cookie
The walnut cookie was a large biscuit, one of the best freshly made ones I had. The walnut taste is not over-empowering, just right in fact. Wife's biscuit is arguably the best ever. Not cloying, not artificially enhanced..the flaky pastry, puts the big names to shame.
A walk down memory lane with 明華餅家..pastries in plastic bags? I wish this would not go down in history, forgotten...ever.
