I can never resist a visit to Ritz Carlton's Summer Pavilion - possibly one of the few places that scores both on quality of food and ambience. Not to mention, how hot their tables are through lunch and dinners.
Complimentary amuse bouche of chilled french beans with chilli padi and fried white bait. In these miniscule portions, the flavours were all on point and so tasty. I wonder if they have this in full portions.
Steamed Prawn, Bamboo Shoot Dumpling ($8)
Maybe due to the essence of time and they assumed all diners were there for business lunches, all our dimsum was plated. I love the thoughtfulness but dimsum not in steamers somehow discounted the experience.
Anyway, this har gao, unlike the rest eaten has a really thin skin and that prawn ball within is so juicy and with bamboo shoot, texturally it was very intriguing and of course, we were definitely off to a good start.
Steamed Pork and Prawn, Mushroom Dumpling($8)
As ordinary as this looks, this was really delicious. That burst of flavours as I bit into the unassuming dimsum is unforgettable.
Poached Prawn Dumpling, Carrot, Chilli Sauce is really just wanton in chilli sauce. I didn't fancy the sweet based chilli sauce that much, they should have kept them separate.
Steamed Barbeque Pork, Onion, Preserved Vegetable Bun was a classy rendition with preserved vegetable to balance the sweetness a fair bit.
Pan-fried Chive Dumpling, Dried Shrimp, Chicken, Mushroom, Preserved Vegetable ($7.20)
Pan-fried Shredded Yam Pumpkin ($7.20)
Steamed Prawn, Conpoy, Mushroom, Carrot, Chinese Cabbage Dumpling ($8)
Not only are their steamed items exceptional, so are their deep fried items. I particularly love the chive dumpling that springs a surprise with its chewy pastry and minced pork chive filling.
Yam Paste Icecream ($12) is a must, yam puree with grits and a decadent vanilla bean icecream.
Still a favourite and I am glad I introduced more fans to them. Just shows the quality of food is always on point though I wish they will not rush through lunch so much!
