Cavan Road is my new found favourite hang out with the discovery of three eating and takeaway places and all within walking distance from each other. Red Eye Smokehouse like its name suggests is a BBQ place made for carnivores.
The chalk board doubles up as a menu and makes it easier to order over the counter as well.
I love how they allocate a corner for all these condiments.
Bucket sizes for their starters!
More condiments to go with the meats.
Macho Nachos ($10)
Fresh Salsa, Guacamole, Cheddar, Ranch, Chipotle Aioli, Beans
Is it just me or nachos are to tempting to ignore when they are on the menu? These off the pack nachos were delicious on their own and the plethora of toppings made them more soggy than delicious. This was on the sweet side than savoury with some heat as expected.
Our sharing platter for two. Meats are sold by weight and start from 100 grams.
U.S. Brandt Beef Brisket ($15)
Angus Beef 365 Day Grain Fed, Hormone Free and Antibiotic Free
These highly recommended beef brisket were blackened and absolutely smokey. The thin layer of fat made gave this my desired meat fat ratio and this was just so tasty! On hindsight I should have just gone for 400 grams of delicious slabs.
Best eaten with a generous sprinkling of crushed black pepper.
Smoked Lamb Chops ($9)
Lamb chops on the other hand were boney and missing out on some mint sauce for oomph. I liked the gameyness so no complaints on that.
Broccoli Salad ($8, Full Portion)
The sides are sold at either half or full portions at $5 and $8 respectively. It reminded me of an asian slaw with thai chilli dressing.
Buns and pickles are available upon request at no charge.
I made a beef brisket bun with a dash of chipotle mayo! Om nom.
And more, two buns it was before I called it a day. Belly up satisfying.
I am dying for a return for the beef brisket and pork ribs that were sold out, and buffalo wings. This smokehouse is definitely on my radar for awesome smoked meats.
