The trip to Melaka had a highlight - the massive jams and queues aside, we actually booked a hotel that was away from the city center. I was aware but the question is, how far away was it. Apparently it was completely away from the city and in an area called Fajar. By the time we made it to the hotel, we missed out on dinner and had to order room service.
Our suite that came with a living room!
The main bedroom had a king sized bed.
The other had a queen and super single bed.
Amenities.
I found some interest in their handsoaps.
And the rather spacious toilets.
Rest was adequate though the air conditioning was way too cold and impossible to control. The sound proofing of the main bedroom was not great either - had it not been for the fatigue, I may have had trouble sleeping due to the sounds from the highway.
View from the hotel - not much.
Dinner was a quick one since we were all more tired than hungry. Food was catered from the kitchens of Hibiscus Cafe, the same place that we would have breakfast at the next morning.
Misery in fried rice when all I tasted was dry rice with a pinch of ingredients.
Horfun that was soupy and well, on the bland side.
A decent chicken rice for room service standard.
Fish cake noodles
Tahu Telor
Chendol that came too early and we did not bother to quibble over it. In short, too much ice and too little coconut milk.
Breakfast coupons!
With the performance of dinner less than ideal, I was not hoping much. The breakfast spread actually spanned a distance with live stations and precooked stations.
Starting the day with greens keeps the doctor away.
A more than decent attempt at nasi lemak!
As usual the egg station was the most popular with the longest queue.
Noodles reminiscent of the night before.
Halal dimsum which turned out tasty and we were really surprised.
The waffle station that could rival the egg station for length of queue. Nothing beats a fluffy waffle with a dollop of peanut butter.
It was an enjoyable stay but maybe 1 night is suffice or maybe 2 but with the distance of this hotel from everywhere else being a consideration, it may be better to stay nearer the city center.
