Anti:dote is Fairmont Singapore's latest flashy joint - with bartenders making headlines with their two out of three wins at the Diageo Reserve World Class Singapore 2014 competition.
Heading the bar is Tom Hogan and supported by Bannie Kang, previously a waitress at Cityspace. I may have just seen her in the long slit gowns those days where I frequented Cityspace as often as I pay hommage to Mikuni these days.
Tastefully decorated corners all over.
Naughty and nice toilet signs.
Lights and more lights.
A dish of spiced nuts were served up - very tasty things, so good that we willingly stuffed ourselves silly with at least three refills.
Treat of Kings ($23)
Pineapple, lilet blanc, tarragon, mint, soda water, pisco
I wish I had the capacity for their lethal numbers and even with this refreshing number, I was lightheaded at the end of the session. It tasted just like pina colada sans the alcoholic punch that only hit me much later.
Tonic #2 ($19)
Gentian, lemongrass, ginger, parsley, lemon, rum
They have a series of tonics and the man calls this a man drink - with hints of herbs and really refreshing.
Nikka "From the barrel" ($18)
This smelt so good for the whiskey lover, very woody and fragrant but to a non whiskey drinker, this was almost detergent like.
Crisp Anchovy Sticks, Garlic Aioli ($8)
6 sticks to the tune of 8 buckeroos, each was precious and very tasty when dunked in the creamy garlic aioli.
Crisp Parmesan Pizza, Olive Oil Caviar, Powdered Tomato, Basil Cress ($13)
I give this top marks for theatrics - coming in a make believe pizza box. Well if only it came with molten cheese too. I could just wave this off as molecular gastronomy but well, my tastebuds were screwed in a good way. The grittiness of the pungent cheese was so well captured in the crust, powdered tomato, caviar and basil were all melt in the mouth moments and with my eyes closed, this was one of the healthiest pizzas ever eaten.
By the end of the night, I was deliriously happy and belly full. A return is definitely on the list to chug on their list of bar bites that seems quite never ending - only too bite sized in portions!
