Loy Sum Juan @ Tras Street

Hidden in one corner of Tras Street is a Cantonese restaurant that has been around long enough for the older generation to place this as a favourite. It seems to have closed two weeks ago though so just an entry to remember this place.

Shark's Fin soup was a tad watery, it had more fish maw than shark's fin.

A humongous portion of seasonal vegetables, sea cucumber and mushrooms that made up for portions only.

Stir fried beef with enough wok hei but once again, on the oily side.

Steamed cod, simple and forgettable.

Sweet eefu noodles that would otherwise have been really good - the makings of a good eefu noodle afterall came from having noodles done al dente with a good handful of chives.

Bewildering dessert - peanut mochi. I cannot find more words to say this than starchy, dense and unpalattable.

Loy Sum Juan is a place of the past, a place for memories and those who'd love to relive yesteryears. Lower the expectations for a taste of history but otherwise, I would not really return.
