Dong Po Colonial Cafe is strictly for those who want a slice of the past. Eat and live in it, literally.
A corner full of knick knacks from yesteryears.
Idea for a dining table - chess pieces as a decor!
More of the other old school themed tables.
Coffee cannot get more old school than this - a hefty price to pay for nostalgia. Coffee, toast and eggs went for a hefty song of $4.50.
Kaya toasts to round it off, yet another ordinary dish. Strange that they sold brown kaya in a jar, but when spread on toast it was green.
Never complete without eggs, this was possibly the best attempt by the cafe - runny eggs.
3 Hole Cookie ($1.90)
I call this traffic light cookie with the colours peeping out so beautifully like this - ordinary cookie at best.
Coconut Macaroon ($1.90)
A friend recommended their macaroon, note the double o.
Turned out to be a hard, crusty and dense confectionery to attempt.
Butterfly cupcake that I spotted at Glacier Bakery previously. Dry buttercake meets buttercream, and that was just about it.
So long, farewell Dong Po! It was a nice walk down memory lane but just not good enough for another return.
