Morton's Revisited @ Mandarin Oriental

Steak and Seafood menu has been reprised till end March 2014 at Morton's steakhouse so fans of Morton's do rejoice and do a Kallang wave along with it. Lighting is never great for photography at Mortons - even then, the food does some justice.

To celebrate a pal's birthday last year, they customised the menu much to his honour and surprise. They also threw in a complimentary dessert and photo.

I'd want a twinkling christmas tree this year.

Their famous onion loaf is what I love to conquer and regret thereafter - someone suggested just going in for their onion loaf, order a drink and dinner is done.

Caesar Salad

Morton's Salad

I always head for this caesar salad with blue cheese dressing - creamy and pungent yet retained its crisp and crunchy exterior.

Chopped Salad

This version was definitely healthier than the rest without any of the creamy dressing.

Single Cut Filet Mignon

Top ups are available for different cuts of meats. While the more adventurous went ahead with their striploin upgrades, I stayed true to the 8 ounce heavy weight.

Tender beyond measure but a filet mignon is not a cut for rich flavour so that was the only grouse.

Broiled Sea Scallops

Wrapped with bacon, these were gone too quickly to even steal a bite.

Colossal Shrimp Alexander

I always hesitate between the battle of shrimp and crab cake. There were four of these shrimp alexanders served, and I wish I stole a bite at least.

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake

Once a crab cake fan, forever a crab cake fan. Packed with enough crabmeat chunks to make the crab mother weep, I was thoroughly spoilt. A dab of tartare sauce and it was a rocket ride to heaven.

Sauteed Brussels Sprouts
Another easy to eat since the rest were too heavy laden.

Steamed Jumbo Asparagus

The smallest portion amongst all the other appetizers.

Macaroni and Cheese

I wish I had all the stomach space in the world to finish every bite of this. Literally a baked cheese heaven with the amount of cheese that was piled on top. We overlooked and overordered so many portions, it was almost a mac and cheese coma at the end of it.

Sour Cream Mashed Potato

Carb heaven for potato lovers, this was mashed so smooth - the bacon bits were a lovely contrast.

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

A Morton's classic, loved the flow and decadence though it does not take the cake for best chocolate cake, neither did the icecream wow.

Nevertheless, it is a Morton's celebration and the meal was value for money. It would seem superfluous that the seafood tray with the famous lobster has been removed from their service rara...and the dessert platter never made it to my table.
