The secret is out.
I've found a curry puff gem in Kim Tian Green, one of the resettlement blocks in Tiong Bahru. Priced at $1.30 each, it does take on Old Chang Kee's with much vigor. Crispy skin with a delectable curry filling - generosity could be its middle name since my puffs were plumped with enough potatoes and chicken chunks to be belly satisfied.
Some reviews have regarded it as THE original 1A curry puff and if it really is the case, congratulations - mystery's solved! Lost and found and the saga of good curry puffs continues.
If these do not appeal, there are variations like chee cheong fun, sardine curry puffs and fried durian puffs to tease the tastebuds.

I guess you'd be eating this pretty often in future. ;)
