Restaurant week is back! By the time all my posts related to it goes out, it will be long gone and over. This time round, I made it a point to only head to those without the supplements - as history as taught me.
I was greeted at the door by a friendly French and I thought he would be the appointed server for the night but that was hardly the case.

Dining by the park anyone?

Light-o-light on the wall, who's the brightest of them all?

Menu for the night!

Reasonably packed for restaurant week.
Bread basket served with toasty edges and balsamic vinegar with olive oil.
A word of advice to head for the butter instead, somehow it tasted better that way.
Buffalo Milk Bocconcini Trilogy
Arriabiatta, Avocado and Olive Oil, Involtino with Parma Ham
Specialising in mozzarella meant they had to be darn good, and it was a pleasant find to have them included in the menu.

Parma Ham.
Of the three, I like arriabiatta best - a tangy tomato sauce that accompanied the mozzarella fritter.

Threads of cheese joy.

Homemade Gnocchi with Wild Mushroom Ragout
I'm not one who would pick gnocchi as top choice for pasta. This homey version was hearty and very fillling though meat would make this more wholesome.
Iberico Pork Pluma with Polenta, Grilled Peach and Salmoriglio
Reads braised pork in tasty sauce at least. Polenta is hardly my definition of a potato replacement but this was average at best.
Grilled Halibut with Saffron Potato and Lobster Bisque Sauce
I usually shy away from the fish dishes for fear of the staleness. A fresh cut of fish with enough bounce with every bite. Lobster bisque was perfectly done and we were all left wondering if only there was lobster.
Chocolate tart with vanilla icecream
Skip the tart and head for the icecream for the better deal.
Coffee or Tea
To complete the meal and making the set more value for money.
The pacing of the meal was irregular and service blotchy at most times. Plates get cleared before we completed the courses and even if we did, they were done with much haste. Food is decent for restaurant week given the notorious epic failures that I have experienced - it seems very much a concept that took off better overseas but locally as diners are more accepting of subpar experiences because it is restaurant week than thinking it as bang for the buck.
