Decided to check out The Exchange for dinner one
Friday and it was packed. Reservations are highly recommended and even
with my reservation, I was still ignored at the door and for most part
of the meal. For starters, they had a mixup on
the number of guests and it was so difficult to get the attention of
anyone at all.
Green decor.
White Bait ($13)
Raved about online, these white bait are no doubt
larger than usual and the fish can be tasted but it lacked flavour.
Dunking it into mayo would do the trick but some salt would be nice.
Asparagus Salad ($18)
smoked belly bacon and poached egg
Might huge rip off. The smoked belly bacon were
crunchy bits that I would flood my potato jacket with and the quantity
could be counted with five fingers. Poached egg? What poached egg? Three
quarts cooked and hardly runny.
Truffle Fries ($12)
Salty and hardly truffled at all. I would get a better deal at Lantern!
Chicken Wings ($12)
Marginally better than all the rest served up at this point. Well, truth be told I have yet to have awful chicken wings to date.
Exchange Burger ($24)
Cheese, Bacon, Fried Egg (+$2 each)
homemade beef pattie, tomato, lettuce, french fries
Whilst reviews for the Hanger steak were
forthcoming, I had my doubts about a bar doing anything else apart from
bar food good –which already proved the point earlier that even their
barfood was a let down! This was equally disappointing.
Beef pattie was too processed, I could hardly taste the beef in it.
I’m not sure what keeps the crowds returning to The
Exchange, it could be the drinks or a more modest version of Hooter
Girls they have got. Otherwise, I would be better off nearly anywhere
else.
