Ben’s cookies

Cookies are pretty much part of the snacking culture we have in Singapore but not in a huge way – unlike Europe where cookies like chocolates can be sold for generations. When I spotted cookies being baked freshly at Mark’s and Spencer’s Bakery, I was happy at the additional option to Famous Amos!

Ben’s has been making cookies since 1983 and selling them through their stores since 1984. Ben’s was founded by Helge Rubinstein, author of The Chocolate Book and many other publications and an ardent chocoholic! Our cookies are sold by weight and can be bought individually or packaged in bags, boxes and tins, each bearing the logo created for us by Quentin Blake, the well known artist and first ever children’s laureate.

These came in a tin of 4 freshly baked cookies.

Triple Chocolate Chunk

Rich and very chocolatey for obvious reasons.

Double Chocolate and Nuts

chunky biscuits

White Chocolate Chunk

An overkill of macadamia nuts in this fit for the sweet toothed.

Oatmeal Raisin

Hearty and plumped up with fat sweet yellow raisins. Possibly trying to balance healthy with the unhealthy with oatmeals scattered generously.

Their cookies are pretty much had a muffin-top cake texture when consumed. Best eaten within 4 days and these supposedly are crispy fresh out of the oven. Don’t get me wrong, I love my cookies very much. The point is, hardly large cookies come crunchy so it is a preference that hinders me from screaming “I LOVE THEM!”.

  1. I <3 Famous Amos cookies! For small ones like Famous Amos, I like them crunchy. Big ones like Pepperidge Farm & Subway, I like them a little chewy. Pepperidge Soft Baked Nantucket is delish! Where did you buy Ben's cookies from?

Still haven't got the chance to try Millie's zzzzz....
