Aerins Restaurant @ Raffles City

Aerin's has been around for so long, it has always been the restaurant at the other fountain to me. Somehow each time I walked past, it will be brimming with diners and one fine day, I ended up dining there.

fountain

The fountain that has far fewer antics than the one next to Out of the Pan.

grilled platter

Surf and Turf ($28)
Italian Sausage, Lamb Kebab, Grilled Chicken

This came with 2 sides of your choice - I picked coleslaw and mashed potato. More than decent, considering how the main proteins on the dish fared.

Grilled Chicken - Listed as a signature, fell flat with a bland charred rendition. I was thankful it was fresh.
Lamb Kebab - Oddly confusing with the herbs and texture of the kebab.
Italian Sausage - Finally something that tasted the way it should! Not the best but I thought it was above average.

aerins pasta

Aerin's Tagliatelle ($22)
Mushroom ragout in light mushroom sauce, smoked salmon

In comparison way better than the grilled items though on its own, it really had nothing worth shouting about. Limp pasta that clung to the rest of the strands, rather tasteless save for the salty smoked salmon. If anything, I thought hte mushroom ragout was delicious.

Aerin's does not hold a candle to Swensen's, harshly. Probably in the league of Cafe Cartel. It was one of those meals that I could think of a dozen other better alternatives.

    I totally concur.

But yes, I've tried it out say, 2 years back and I think it was decent then.

BTW somehow I recall Aerin's being owned by the same guy who owns Oriole.
