"Assault on the senses" - URBAN audaciously scribbled.
Baguette replaced Fre(n)sh at Vivocity quite awhile ago and I was piqued to try it. Sandwiches are usually my type of fussfree dinner and the palette have been tamed too long by Subway. Vietnamese-inspired, this little deli offers a breath of fresh air for diners who are not game enough for authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I like the idea of 4 inch and 6 inch baguettes, perfect for trying more flavours!
Top up $3 and you get a drink of your choice (except coffee) and a side too! Talk about stretching the dollar.
Grilled Pork Baguette ($3, 4 inch)
Tuna Baguette ($5.20, 6 inch)
The baguettes are toasted to a crisp before being filled with ingredients. Baguette's sandwiches are on the dainty side with the ingredients neatly packed within, not the sort one would get messy or dirty eating. Their sandwiches are filled with pickled carrots, cucumbers, coriander and chilli. These give the sandwich the added refreshing crunch and the lovely sweet and sour excitement with every bite.
Of the two, my vote goes to grilled pork!
Soda Chanh Muo ($1.60)
Soda, sour plum, lime juice
I never thought such a combination would be happiness-inducing. Interesting!
Apple Tea ($1.50)
Not just your regular flavoured tea, this was equally rejuvinating on the senses.
Chicken-in-a-cup ($2.90)
Tasted like satay chicken, loved the chicken chunks doused with the familiar tangy sweet and sour sauce used in the sandwich.
Sushi Bread ($2.90)
Soft bread roll ingeniously stuffed with chicken floss, seaweed and ham.
You have to like pickled vegetables and coriander to like Baguette. Love or hate, choose your camp.
