Da Paolo Gastronomia is well hidden in Paragon, away from the fuss but those in the know are aware that its faithful clientele consists of mainly expats and OLs or wandering hungry folks like me. They do have a corner for you to tuck into their fresh bakes!
Calzone ($8)
Despite requests for it to be reheated, this was served lukewarm. A major personal pet peeve. Beneath the crusty chewy surface lies a chunk of ingredients; ham, mushrooms, half melted cheese and carrots. Wholesome it is but it would have been a sure crowd pleaser had it been served piping hot!
White Chocolate Yogurt Crumble ($8)
I count grocery shopping one of the favouritest pastimes, in particular browsing the cooked food section. Da Paolo's got a shelf stocked with tubs of such goodies, it is hard to even surreptitiously leave the store without buying anything! Boy, the rock sized crumbles were yelling out.
Unfortunately the bedazzlement ends after the first bite. Somehow the crumble, stiff frozen yogurt and white chocolate shavings did not come together as merrily as desired. It tasted quite like cereal-digestive biscuit dessert. Nice, not great.
Blueberry Scone
I have always been a major fan of their white chocolate cornflake scones, I still am.
Blueberry brought the scone to a different level, tastes more like cake with tasteless blueberries and the blue colouring certainly is one of the worst choices...makes the scone look mouldy!
Through it all, sandwiches and pasta seemed to be hot favourites....perhaps another round?

Their pasta was really good! I was disappointed they open at Paragon when we're already leaving SG. It really suited our lifestyle of lazy cooking. :)
