My utmost pleasure to chance upon a Bread Fair outside Notre Dame Cathedral. It took us quite awhile before we deciphered the purpose of the fair..all I know is we were led there by our noses -- the amazing fragrance!
Chefs all around promoting their wares and courses.
French bakers deep in discussion.
The nimble works of the children who went for the bread course.
Samples given out...hot off the oven! French bakers are ingenious people...they somehow know the works of a good baguette (crusty-crispy-chewy) and this certainly did not disappoint! Wish they sold baguette loaves!
Gone are the days of feeding birds by scattering bread crumbs...the cutest way ever to feed birds! These broad chested feathery friends courageously nipped bread from open palms. Was quite a delight to watch really.
A fair's never complete without sale of bread!
Sundried tomato bacon bread stick, this paled in comparison with the baguette but was still delicious.
Sweet to round off the snack! Sweet berry bread...piping hot and crusty!
The way the french embrace baking is enviable, they could make a decent living from simply baking..and the way they mould the young through events like these sheds light on the future generations. Baking is still very much ingrained in the French community and that is how they preserve bread culture.
