1-for-1 seems to be rocking my meals these days...I'm certainly not complaining but since when did eateries become so hardcore with the discounts despite the economy looking up? Armed with a persistent waitress and a leaflet screaming "1-for-1", R did a pass on Burger, Bench And Bar for Chicago's Steakhousel.
The catch is, 1-for-1 on the same item if not pay for the higher item. From drinks, appetizers to mains, 1-for-1 applies.
Grilled Spring Chicken ($14.90)
If you are wondering if the promotional tactic had an impact on the meal -- compromising on taste and portions, my answer's a resounding YES.
Half a spring chicken made the chicken seem small, like pigeon-small. I wonder if they halved the portions for this promotion.
The Spring Chicken was barely cooked, the pink was peeping out beneath the meaty surface. Basically a half cooked chicken with soggy skin and doused with sauce. If I could say "ack", it'll be a deafening one. The only edibles were the haphazardly put together lettuce-tomato salad with droplets of vinigarette and of course, fries.
As far as service goes, tartare sauce was mistaken for mayo, the waiters were clearly irritated with clarifications regarding promo...the only fuss free process was paying the bill.
I walked out convinced KFC would have been a better choice. Never again...? You bet.
