The Strudel House @ Railway Mall 2

New flavours always pique my interest...this time, strudels and their variations!

Durian

Solely for hard core durian fans. The pungent durian made its presence known by permeating through every molecule in the fridge. A waft of it can potentially maim a fruitfly. The pure D24 durian pulp was potent, full bodied creaminess with a bittersweet end. Better than Goodwood's entry level durian pulp. This, is one mighty heavyweight!

Threads of pulpy delight.

Apple

Sorely disappointed with the finely diced apples, it came across more of a custard strudel than apple.

Mango

The mangoes were barely tasted.

The pastry is so light and hollow, it barely fills the tum. It dissolves with such grace, eating it was effortless. For once, the non-signatures outshone the original apple strudel.

Durian $4.80
Apple/Mango $3.80

  2. Nice meeting u and Chloe yesterday, it was great to chat about buffets and desserts...

Quite surprised to hear that the durian filling is more potent than Goodwood's durian pulp. But setting aside the strength of durian in its filling, Goodwood's durian strudel was memorable. The puff pastries aren't soggy and the layer of cake makes it one of the more unique and good strudels.

I have to agree with you for the apple and mango. Apple was not too bad when compared to the mango but mango was a total disappointment. Mango was bland and the overall taste is overwhelmed by the sweet puff pastries.

  3. @ harris: LOL...ey, not me actually. the bf bought them over. *OOPS*

@ Fen: Finally met you and yuan!! Had a great time indeed..

yup, have to agree that goodwood's finer touch is in their pastries. I had seconds of the mango and apple last week, total disappointment, seems like there's almost no QC. Getting worser by the visit...
