So the stuffing myself with mooncakes continues till Oct 3...
Fairmont Hotel ($48)

I'm loving the continuation of the cheongsam series from Fairmont, the robin blue!

Snowskin Selection
The pink one's a clear favourite since the Mooncake launch. Way to go Hazelnut Feuillentine!
Goodwood Park ($52)

The shade so glaring, you can spot it from a mile off.

The legendary instructions. "Best consumed on the day of purchase"? We put it to test.

Dusted with flour..these were stored straight in the freezer after the scare we had with last year's durian logcake. Durian is one of those temperature sensitive fruits.

Nicely thawed but by then, it loses most of its design.

In a delicious shade of yellow, the D24 paste is not entirely pulp but mixed with flour hence the pasty texture, the snowskin detached itself from the paste quite easily and tasted more like teochew kueh somehow. To be honest, slightly disappointed with the durian snowskin. I sampled the other snowskin flavours and well, durian is still the best of the range but flavours like chempedek and mango mousse just did not wow.
On the way back from Goodwood, Marriott was also having its mooncake testing and there was durian too! Based on sampling, Marriott's tasted better somehow, perhaps in the pulp. One thing's for sure, the stardust from the legend faded with the mooncakes..I'll stick with the logcake if not durian mousse cake.
Dai Zhong Kok

As with all the other years, Dai Zhong Kok's a must buy and this year's the worst so far. Sloppy attitude aside,

Dai Zhong Kok
As with all the other years, Dai Zhong Kok's a must buy and this year's the worst so far. Sloppy attitude aside,
- They do not furnish boxes unless you are willing to pay
- It's a "ai mai suat" attitude
- The snowskin layer's so thick and bland
