Lana Cakeshop @ Greenwood Ave

Lana oh lana..a name that rings loud and clear when one think of chocolate fudge cake. I've not sunk my pearlies into the supposedly "to-die-for" chocolate cake yet. The dad was sweet enough to drop by Lana one fine afternoon and got us a loaf of traditional good ole fruit cake!

It comes wrapped in gold foil, as if it were a gold bar. Packed into a no frills gold coloured box, like treasure. Indeed it is, a dense christmas cake with raisins and preserved fruit.

I paired the fruit cake with a scoop of Nestle Hazelnut Praline ice-cream. The fruit cake's moist but lacking the usual rum taste that most fruitcakes do.

Enjoyable after eight treat I'd say..but the fruitcake certainly did not come easy! Service is as bad as the rest say, the lady boss waved off customers who came as far as the north claiming "you have to wait up to 2 hours for my chocolate cake", and if they wanted to wait they could.

Not the best I've eaten but for a piece of nostalgia, why not?

Oh by the way, they only accept cash.

$12/ 5 inch loaf
