Food @ Ikea Alexandra 2

All I wanted was to get was a christmas sock..not sure how IKEA was conjured in my mind as "the place". Anyway, R & I dropped by for the food as well! Refurbished it is, no more Burger King.

Swedish Meatballs with potatoes and cranberry sauce, 10 pcs for $6.50

The perennial favourite, day in day out, year in year out. I'll never get tired of the beef-pork meatballs, bland potatoes and cranberry sauce. The combination's just perfect.

Baked Chicken Thigh with mashed potato, carrots and coleslaw, $7.90

I found the chicken thigh somewhat too tender for my liking though deep down the chicken wings and chicken thigh seems to come from the same source. R gobbled it down with such enthusiasm, I figured it's the hunger more than the taste that mattered.

Chicken Wings, $1.20 each

Same old, same old.

Princess Cake, $3.20

My first try of IKEA cakes! Layers of sponge cake covering creamy custard topped with a lime green sauce. Pretty cake it is, I found the sponge too soft, not like the usual chiffon cake, more like the Japanese redbean pancake texture. The custard's velvety soft without much of a distinct taste but I liked it. Interesting cake it is, but I wouldn't give it the ranks of 'royalty' as it name suggests. I found it selling for $9.80 a whole cake the the IKEA Shoppe downstairs.
