~Invited Session~
Known for its longstanding cultural heritage and timeless
charm, Goodwood Park Hotel stands as my go-to when it comes to festive cheer
and culinary excellence during Xmas season. Guests can indulge in a spectacular
array of Christmas delights and promise to fill hearts with joy and excellent
dishesh with irresistible flavours for a truly unforgettable celebration. An
exquisite array of takeaway treats, perfect for enjoying in the comfort of home
will be available from 15 November, while exclusive dining experiences will be
available at the hotel from 1 December. I tried these Xmas buffet dishes and
they were absolutely delectable.
Baked Turkey Char Siew Buns
You must absolutely start with the fragrant and fluffy baked
turkey char siew buns. The turkey char siew is just as good as the pork version
and I love the yuletide spin on a perennial favourite.
Over-baked rock sugar honey glazed Turkey
Fragrant Vegetables Rice
These 2 dishes go hand-in-hand and if you only have stomach
for a quick option, this 2 right here is a complete meal. Absolutely moreish
and divine, and the rice is nicely fried with garlic and vegetables.
Butter Turkey with cranberry cheese naan
These went best with the absolute flavor bomb of a dhaal.
Dhaal
Baked potato ribbon pie
These tasted like baked cottage pies and I had to stop at 2,
else I would have gone to a carb overload.
Mussels to start
The perennial favorite of all Asian buffet eaters.
Steamed pacific clams
These were fresh and really just nice with light seasoning.
For those that prefer theirs with punchier flavors, consider eating this with a
sauce or gravy.
King crab legs
I like crab legs a lot, and I also feel that these took a
little too long for me to eat. So I only had 2.
Shepard’s pie
I am a sucker for a great meat, potato and cheese pie. This
one certainly didn’t disappoint and I had 2 helpings.
Roasted crackling pork
This is the more westernised version and therefore less
savory then its Chinese counterpart. This does not mean its any less tasty; it
was perfectly roasted and the crunch of the pork skin was just satisfying.
Assorted muffins
If cakes are too heavy a dessert for you, their delightful
muffins and madelines go perfectly with an Earl Grey tea or black coffee.
Fruitcake with alcohol
And how can we have Xmas without fruitcakes? Generous notes
of marmalade, anise, figs, prunes, and glazed sugar, with a touch of rum
perhaps. Sinfully good.
Nutcracker Pistachio Tart
Goodwood Park Hotel excels at its dessert selection, and this tart exemplifies that. Just look at the perfectly piped edges. Loved the textures of this tart, pistachio praline encased a rich and nutty Araguani Chocolate mousse and topped with a smooth pistachio ganache, yum!
Festive Chocolate Logcake
If you are a log cake fan, you will have your fill here. I
counted 5 types of chocolate in this log cake alone, so you will definitely
have cocoa overdose.
Hazelnut log cake
On the other hand, if you prefer lighter and sweeter
flavors, the hazelnut log cake is the perfect choice for you.
Merry Mistle-Crunch
And who can forget this beautiful marzipan ring cake? It was so beautiful that we didn’t really want to cut it apart!
‘Mao Shan Wang’ Durian Log Cake
I saved the best for last. Durian fans, now you can also
make Xmas a pungent and custard-sweet one as well! Delicious durian cream made
from Mao Shan Wang, this is definitely the one dessert you need to have.
