Ever tried a halal dimsum buffet? My interest was piqued since most of the Chinese restaurants in the KL hotels are halal and I was looking for a leisurely way to welcome the weekend. Celestial Court was a reasonably good choice since it was not too crowded and our food arrived fast.
The décor reminds me of Shang Palace in Hongkong, strangely.
Are you ready, are you steady?
Note that their buffet does not include beverages and they charge by head.
There was a portion of the menu that only allows one serving each only;
Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Mini Whole Abalone and Mushroom albeit a hearty broth was a tad too bitter.
Wok Fried Chili Crab missed some oomph since this was way too sweet and the crabs used too skinny.
Peking Duck Roll came with egg crepe rolls too thick hence we ended up unrolling just for the duck meat.
And of course the yumcha session progressed with bamboo steamers of carbs.
Imperial "Jiao Zhi" with Sun Dried Scallop and Winter Melon served in Chicken Consommé
Crystal Spinach Dumpling with Prawn and Scallop
Phoenix Claw with XO Sauce and Stewed Peanuts
Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf
Crispy Spring Roll with Shredded Roasted Duck with mint and Hoisin Sauce
Yam Puff with Assorted Meat and Preserved Olive Filling
Steamed Lava Custard Bun
Bean Curd Rolls in Abalone Sauce
Poached "Sze Chuan" Style Crab Meat Dumpling serve with Peppercorn and Vinegar Oil
Celestial Court "Siew Mai"
"Har Kao" with Kai Lan
Poached Spinach Soup with Salted Egg Yolk and Century Egg
Deep fried Grouper Fillet with Pineapple Sweet Sauce
Steamed Thousand Layer Cake
Poached Seasonal Vegetable with Crab Meat and Roe
Crispy Banana Fritters with Pandan Lotus Paste
Just on desserts alone, we had so many servings! This was the best of the lot, I never knew bananas and kaya could go so well together.
I like that the buffet has main dishes as well so we are not limited to just dimsum. Variety always rocks in a buffet and fickle diners like me.
