Long Chim at Marina Bay Sands is fast becoming my favourite hangout for Thai food after Patara Thai. Especially when lunch hours are barely packed, food is served at breakneck speed still and quality always ensured.
Chef cooking up a storm literally with a number of stir fries.
Miang Mackerel ($18)
This appetizer is similar to dishes eaten in the Vietnamese or Korean cuisines, using a lettuce to wrap a mountain of ingredients - noodles, herbs, leaves and mackerel before drizzling with a sauce. A tasty mess with sticky fingers.
Prin's Noodle ($31)
Pork, Prawns, Sriracha, Oyster Sauce
I remember loving this before and I still love this very much. The way the sauces conjured up such a tasty combination and plenty of wok hei? The strong flavoured dish was very outstanding for me.
Green Beef Curry ($34)
Chillies, Thai Basil, Cucumber, Roti
Sold on roti, these dense pancakes could be passed off as coin pratas and these were so good on their own, I wish they had them under appetizers. The beef was spot on with the heat and this is possibly one of the tastiest renditions of green curries that usually end up spiked too sweet.
3 Flavour Sauce Seabass ($42)
If all fried fish were made equal, this would be the cream of the crop. This was sweet and sour fish without the ridiculously thick batter and just fish with a perfectly addictive glace.
Crispy Pork Snake Beans ($26)
I love my crispy pork and my snake beans, put them both in the same dish and toss in a savoury appetizing marinate? Sold many times over. I love how the crispyness was retained and so tasty down to the last bite.
Siamese Watercress ($16)
Garlic, Yellow Beans
Roast Duck Rice ($24)
London fat duck or the $15 cheapest duck in town has made this poultry famous. Yet, what we diners look for is a beautifully roasted tender duck with just the right spice rub and cackle in the skin.
Lo and behold, the Thais do a mean roast duck rice too. Who says only the Cantonese have the best recipes?
Tom Yam Seafood ($32)
Deemed to sour for some, I thought this was punchy, very appetizing and literally brings me on a trip back to the Land of Smiles.
Banana Roti ($12)
For all the times I've missed the roti hawker by the roadsides of Bangkok. This more than makes up for it. Toasted corners with pillowy soft layers and the unmistakenable condensed milk drizzle and bananas. So goood!
Durian Icecream ($14)
Best in Singapore, enough said and raved about. One must order and decadent treat.
I can never visit Long Chim enough to finish trying everything on the menu because I keep going back to the classics. That said, more visits await.
