I wouldn't consider myself a fan of business hotels - and many a time they end up so basic. So this booking at Holiday Inn Express was definitely not top of the list, especially when the weekend was somehow a hot period to visit Hong Kong and hotel rates were ridiculously high.
One category of room available only, the exception came in terms of high or low floors. We nabbed one on the 17th floor, which came with a nice sofa corner overlooking the street.
The room was adequately furnished and a view like that always makes me feel like jumping onto the bed.
Even the a pillow menu, the pillows were not too different. However that said, I had restful sleep.
Spacious toilet by Hongkong standards. Except for the fact that the shower door also doubled up as a toilet door too.
Unlike most other Hong Kong hotels, Holiday Inn Express included breakfast in their room rates. There was enough choice for a different meal a day.
Western delight because I was saving my stomach for more authentic fare after that! Nothing fancy but great for business travellers who need to be on the go.
Overall, comfortable stay at Holiday Inn Express - if having a proper fridge in a room is a must then this may not work for you at all. I ended up borrowing the staff fridge's freezer. Otherwise, no frills and fuss free.
Distance from the MTR was a fair one too, not exactly next to it but a good 10 minute walk. Quiet neighbourhood with a decent number of supper options.
