Restoran How Win @ Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru

My Bak Kut Teh trails have certainly brought me on adventures in JB, so much so each trip in we try to take on a completely new place. Restoran How Win Bak Kut Teh is considered off the beaten track but those who know, know and render support on rainy and sunny days.

Open concept kitchen with lots of heat going on!

Their house secret to an amazing BKT meal lies in this saucer of diced garlic. I'm one of those who cannot resist garlic, like I go weak infront of leather.

Having a table full of food is the recipe to happy bellies. Restoran How Win has a whole list of other dishes on top of bak kut teh, catering to all palettes and we had a go at all their signatures.

I have this strange weakness for soaked beancurd skin, especially in a pot of BKT broth. On top of the other ingredients like mushrooms, meatballs and the pork ribs, these beancurd skins are the highlight. This is a peppery version as opposed to the usual herbal ones.

Sesame Oil chicken looking less than yummy but it was pretty decent!

Black sauce cat fish was although greasy but packed an immensely fragrant punch. My love affair with claypots does not stop at claypot rice - these too!

Tang-O stir fried and tossed in fried garlic.

And curry chicken to end it all off. This was on the oily side with my favourite beancurd skin as well!

Lacking in character this place is, master of all trades but perhaps a jack of none. It is likely to appeal to those seeking variety than just a claypot of good bak kut teh.
