Restoran Hua Mui, a household name in Johor Bahru since the 1950s, serving mainly European clientele. Located walking distance from Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, it is walking distance from their stretch of cafes and night spots.
A rebranded menu.
Chicken Chops (RM 13)
When it first arrived, I was surprised at how big the plate is and how many peas and potatoess there were - yes, they can be counted and barely filled my two hands. Bland batter, plain chicken chop and the rest was far from It Roo's, if the latter could be considered standard fare. In short, lacking of spectacular to say the least.
Steak (RM 25)
The price and portions made sense but the quality of steak had to be compromised for sure - and I was right. The texture was plain odd - rubbery, a case of too much tenderizer and synthetic, I questioned how much of it was real meat.
Mee Goreng
This was close to pasta with an asian twist, the noodles were overcooked in my opinion and it could pass off as mee goreng but the noodle was a huge question mark.
Toilets are a challenge to go as well, I had to point that out on top of the below average food served up. All in, just one visit is suffice or perhaps none at all.
