Melilotos @ Athens

melialotos

Melilotos was a recommendation on Culinary Backstreets. To be honest, I was drawn by their modern day interpretations of Greek classics. While it was not easy peasy to find, google maps saved us from the unnecessary time wasted.

bar

The main grouse is, I did not go there with an empty stomach. The most loathesome thing is to then have a menu full of food that is worth trying but the stubborn stomach can only take 1. Word has it that the menu at Melilotos changes daily and ingredients are sourced from small, local producers.

bread

Complimentary bread basket for the meal - I still have not gotten over the fact that bread can be served cold and hard. I suppose it is one of those cultural adjustments I need to make on a holiday.

Chicken Tenders

This was already the portion of the appetizers. A very tasty broth with chicken tenders soaking. It could have passed off as an oriental fry.

steak

Steak

Even the man found this hard to polish off - damn, the limited stomach space and limitless list of things to eat. Medium, bloody and charred, it had the makings of a darn fine steak.

Unpretentious honest food at pocket friendly prices. It is worth a visit on an empty stomach.
