Brunetti Revisited @ Tanglin Mall

Breakfast at Brunetti’s was a random affair. They swing open their doors at 9am for the breakfast crowd comprising mostly of foreigners. Is it me or the local community does not believe in Sunday brunch?

Sicillian Eggs Benedict

I have yet to come across an Eggs Benedict that gets identified by country. Here comes the Italian rival claiming chorizo sausages with eggs benedict on toast instantly become Sicillian.

Peek of yellow.

Metal Pan Eggs ($14.90)

Served in a metal pan, the Mom was immediately inspired to whip up an equivalent for us. Runny and flavourful with the chorizo slices, this was a great dipping sauce for the crusty bread.

Pancakes ($9.90)

I usually do not get blown away by pancakes simply because most end up being like hotcakes – too fluffy and hardly any bite. These were on the radar for me, chewy with the same kind of fluffiness.

Big Breakfast ($18.90)

This was a hearty preview of what they had to offer.

Muesli and greek yogurt made the healthy bit whilst scrambled egg and toast made things a little more complicated.

The set comes with a choice of juice and coffee – how value for money! The beetroot apple juice was rather raw but still palatable as part of my plan to eat clean.

Strawberry Cronut ($5.50)

Ever since the crodo storm started, I have been emptying my pockets every time I spot one. So far, Da Paolo has stolen the heart. Brunetti’s version is oily, flakier and well just like a croissant more than a donut.

Apple and Berry Crumble

Crumbly and mildly sweet, the fillings were easy to like and polish off so greedily. One of the better crumbles around.

Their so-called best seller cake was on the contrary hardly a bestseller for me being so soggy.

A decent affair for Sunday Brunch. Hits and misses but worth a visit for sure.
