Unintentionally Mozza for dinner one weekend and it only got us bar or pizza counter seats - which in reality is a better deal. I love open kitchen concepts and more so if I can watch what really goes behind the scenes.
I always wish for more stomach space for a drink at least and till today, the wish remains a wish. Another time, the companion always muses.
These posies look festive under the light or that I am already feeling christmasy.
Pizzas get made in factory style.
One twirls the dough while another decorates with ingredients. Nothing fancy though - just plenty of flour making it to the floor too.
Complimentary parmesan crackers - these didn't come warm as desired though. Hungry beggars really cannot be choosers.
Top marks for serving warm water warm - many a time it comes lukewarm, barely warm or even room temperature.
Salad ($8)
A really normal looking tossed together salad that awakened the tastebuds with the sour dressing. Crisp greens with tantalizing dressing - great start!
Pigs ears, I kid you not. And the instant reaction from another was - is there wax? Jokes aside, I was skeptical about trying this though curious at the same time. A crispy and crunchy breaded number coating cartilage and what would be a gummy textured filling. Odd to a certain regard but it was really enjoyable.
Veal tongue with funghi ($11)
For some reason, I was game enough to take on the other more adventurous dishes that night. Veal tongue seen above beneath a bed of mushrooms and accidental greens. Nothing more graifying than having the flavours meld in so beautifully and tastefully.
The spicy dip that went with nearly everything.
Bacon, Salami, Fennel Sausage, Pancetta, Tomato, Mozzarella ($37)
Mozza does the best pizzas in town and it is no secret. We went for a meaty one to satisfy both meat and dough at once. Fennel probably is not the best ingredient to have in a pizza since the sausage was not that great an accompaniment though the rest of it did seem like a magheurita pizza. Not the best eaten from Mozza but I am still a fan of their pizza bases!
Food is great, I found a new love for pig's ears and tongues so then - certified worthwhile visit!
