Commonman Coffee Roasters join the rest of the brunch places with coffee and eggs - and tops the list for swinging its doors wide and open as early as 7am! Perfect for weekend early risers like myself. By 830am, the place was brimming with screaming kids and couples - if you crave for a time of solitude and tranquility, the magic hour is before 8.
Glorifying the early riser.
This is a collaboration between 40 Hands and Straya, this is another concept cafe/specialty coffee place by the Spa Esprit Group.
Tools for caffeine magic.
None of their famous lemon tart in sight.
Hight tables for communal dining await.
Peekaboo at the workplace next door - they have a restricted access area for staff.
Irresistibly too cute salt and pepper shakers.
Croque Monsieur ($16)
Reinventing the wheel with a beautifully buttered croissant stuffed with cheese and ham and topped off with more cheese - I have to say I am adoring this cheese overload big time. Loving this rendition to bits!
Eggs Benedict ($24)
Beef cheeks instead of smoked salmon or turkey ham already places this a cut above the rest. Runny poached eggs with a hollandaise with the right amount of cream and vinegar to make it fork licking delicious. Before I even go on with the tender beef cheeks and intensely fragrant bread, I was already sold. Best eggs benny in town!
The mandatory runny shot.
Full Breakfast ($26)
Befitting of its title - "Full" Breakfast. Many places take advantage of this by barely filling the plate with ingredients - Common Man Roasters understands. There is no greater joy than to have a plate full of breakfast and having it so hearty - hashbrowns, bread, salsa, scrambled eggs, sausage, spinach and even beans.
Drooliciously hearty and very filling.
Thumbs and toes up for this mildly spicy salsa to go with bread.
Pear Apple Celery ($8)
Juice booster! A refreshing combination of pear, apple and celery that was a joyful combination. I dislike how juices can be too raw sometimes.
Cappuccino ($5)
Strangely or not, they do coffee better than 40 Hands does despite coming from the same beans. The barrista then!
Hot Chocolate ($6)
Chocolatey and rich, this is every chocoholic's dream in a cup.
Best brunch place discovered this year though prices are on the steep side - yet well worth the price. It can get unimaginably crowded and noisy at times with an occasional tsk under another's breath to photo taking - but otherwise, I'm raring to return for dinner. They could have added waffles or pancakes to sweeten breakfast further apart from french toasts.
