interior

A restaurant full of diners!

tatami

Reservations meant I got a tatami table!

buzzer

A really good buzzer that gets us such prompt attention.

beef shabu

Beef Shabu Shabu

The marbling is gorgeous and resulted in a lean yet adequately fatty beef slice when dipped into the hotpot.

beef

The buffet is worth it because of this shabu shabu! There's also chicken available too. We waited till all the meat was cooked and slurped up the vegetable broth - so flavourful!

kawaebi

Kawaebi

I can hardly resist these lovely crunchy things - now, where's the Sapporo beer to go with this?

sashimi

Salmon Sashimi

10 pieces for every order, these succulent thick slices gave a good start to the meal ahead.

sashimi

Salmon Aburi Sushi

Rice is a tad soft for these bite sized sushi makes great for popping into my mouth at a go. Deliciously seared too!

yam spring roll

Deep Fried Yam Spring Roll

Fried till crisp and soaked of oil, I loved the filling of grated yam - even the non yam lover liked it.

cream asparagus

Grilled Asparagus with Cheese Sauce

All along I thought this was cream sauce so then, the asparagus were juicy and crunchy and delicious even without the sauce!

beef enoki

Beef and Mushroom Roll

I found the sticky sauce too sweet but otherwise a juicy treat of beef and enoki.

chicken

Chicken Meat Skewer

Can never go wrong with chicken and leeks - lost in tenderness with each deserving bite.

pork

Pork Skewer with Garlic Herb

Loved this combination - pork was very tender and well marinated.

breaded oyster

Deep Fried Oyster

This crunchy delight would have warranted seconds if I had more tum space!

grilled oyster

Baked Oyster

No better way than to have them baked and served with a squirt of lemon juice - having a plump one burst into a mouthful of juices is absolutely to-die-for.

kimchi pork

Kimchi Pork Belly

I must have an obsession with this to order it at a Japanese restaurant, this was done pretty well capturing both the tartness of kimchi and tenderness of pork belly.

saikoo steak

Saikoo Steak

4 pieces of panfried batter encrusted steak bites - melt in my mouth kind of delicious. A modern take with a side of mash and peppers, seconds I had just to fix the craving.

sirloin

Sirloin Steak

This comes in full and medium sized, seared to a perfect pink but this was not as good as saikoo steak. Sirloin was slightly more tough with hard to chew parts.

crab rice

Crab Fried Rice with Gravy

Also served in half and full sizes, this is half and is reasonably huge even for one. Reminds me of mui fan with the moat of gravy. This dish takes some getting used to but it grew on me by the end of it. Lacking wok hei but it makes up for with soft chewy rice and a really crispy soft shell crab.

green tea soba

Cha Soba

Half sized and once again too much to consume. Nothing to shout about their version but was good enough for the birthday boy to meet his "longevity noodle" quota for the day.

tofu cheesecake

Tofu Cheesecake

Great texture and mild cheese taste, the table next to ours had five portions of this.

green tea

Green Tea Icecream was slightly foamy in texture and green tea taste adequately strong.

creme brulee

A really sweet creme brulee that was really decent.

Special mention to a waiter called Tian Yu who was so accomodating and prompt in his service. They did not have a feedback form for me to commend him so here's it. I hope he goes far in whatever he does!

Food is indeed good across most items and I am definitely loving the dessert inclusion in the buffet - brings the meal to a perfect sweet end.
