Smitten Coffee and Tea Bar @ Robertson Quay

smitten

I like traipsing round neighbourhoods or new found eating places so I can suss out newer eats and the next dining place. Smitten is not new, fairly established as compared to Penny University or even Chye Seng Huat Hardware. This hole in wall café stands tall in the row of eateries at The Pier.

Cheesecake Crumble Cake ($6.50)

chomp

First tempted by carrot cake but won over by cheesecake crumble. Lighter than the usual cheesecake, the lightness was captured with melt in the mouth cheesecake but the sweetness overload was way too much. As a whole, the concept of cheesecake and crumble is refreshing yet the execution failed.

Iced Americano Black ($4.70)

The coffeeholic was hardly impressed, water used was not hot enough which resulted in a slightly acidic aftertaste.

First impressions stick, it was not good enough for a revisit though. With potato chip and fruit bowls going for $5 a pop, leaves little to be desired. I could be missing out on a gem yet until the next impetus, I am content without a return.
