Having been featured on Sizzling Woks, I have been wanting to try since that particular episode went on air. One main feature of the place is the usage of fruits which I found novel. Yi Jia South Village has a number of outlets but we went to the featured outlet and it was fairly full for a Friday night though not terribly so. The whole idea for the trip was to indulge in their famous fried chicken coated with strawberry sauce and honey dew prawns.

These lean bites were brushed with a delicious
sticky sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Probably one of the
favourites of the meal.

For the fibre this was.
Utterly and shamelessly unreasonable. So that’s how
we ended up without trying their signature. Ordinary yellow-skinned
chicken. Nuff said.
The beauty of this is the presentation in a honey
dew fruit and the fruit being incorporated into the sauce. Prawn balls
with mayo, I was not blown away by the taste but more so for creativity.

Garlic Ribs ($10)

Seasonal Vegetable ($8)

Yellow Skinned Kampung Chicken ($12)
This ought to have been the strawberry fried chicken and here’s how it went awry.
Me: “Strawberry chicken” (whilst flipping the menu)
Server: “Kampung chicken or normal chicken? Both are good.”
Would it not seem natural that she would be
referring to the meat used for my fried chicken? When it actual fact she
was trying to sell another dish. Quarreling with an auntie is no joke
and it’s a lose-lose situation.
Me: “It’s too much to finish.”
Server: “You can take your time to finish.”
