Prive Cafe @ Keppel Bay

I had a chance to drop by Prive at last! Talk about resolute sometimes. Prive is a beautiful place to visit past sunset and bears a faint resemblance to lover’s bridge in Taiwan (yeah, a really faint one methinks), its somewhat romanticised by yachts and proposals that people have there. Keppel Bay is home to the rich and not quite famous.

view

Gorgeous view that reminded me of Lover's Bridge in Taiwan.

waterfront

Outdoor it was for us and it did get a tad stuffy at times.

cutlery

Cutlery in a bucket.

potato chip chicken

Potato Chip crusted chicken strips ($10)
with mustard mayonnaise

5 pieces for 10 buckeroos, pricey much but worth it! Tasted really like chips from a can with a meaty bite. At least this pricey affair did give us ideas for the next cook out.

shrimps

Crispy Salt and Pepper Prawns ($12)

Recommended by the waitress as another best seller next to the chicken strips. Flavourful and would suit better as a beer snack, I thought it was alright.

burger

Simply Prive Burger ($26)
Thick Wagyu beef patty topped with melted mild cheddar cheese, streaky bacon & garlic mayonnaise
Truffle Mayo (+ $2.20)

Under the same group as Roadhouse, they nailed the burgers equally fine as well. Juicy well charred patties with an equally delicious bun to match. Topping up to switch to truffle mayo was the right decision afterall, worked for pretty much every other thing that I dunked in.

bbq

Bad Ass Burger ($26)
Thick Wagyu beef patty topped with PrivĂ©’s secret BBQ sauce, button mushrooms, dried bonito flakes, gherkins & garlic mayonnaise

I thought little of the BBQ sauce used, a tad too sweet and over shadowed the other ingredients. To each its own though, the Mom loved it.

chicken

Moroccan Spiced Chicken ($20)
Grilled boneless chicken thigh marinated in a special spice rub served with rocket, grape sauce & a couscous tossed with red onions & red peppers

At $20, this was possibly the cheapest dish on the menu after fish and chips. Portions matched the price tag too. Two chicken portions with a trail of cous cous. I did not get to try but the food was polished off at least.

salmon

Crispy Skin Salmon ($28)
Seared Norwegian salmon served with an assortment of summer baby vegetables & drizzled with a dill-infused cream sauce

Ordinary at best, hardly astounding at all.

spaghettini

Spicy Sausage Ragu Spaghettini ($24)
with three chilli arrabbiata sauce & flat-leaf parsley

All is not lost until we had the pasta. Portions are significantly larger than the rest. Their pastas come in three degrees of spiciness and we decided not to alter it. Loved the spicy kick of chilli padi and noodles done al dente. Well flavoured and lovely meat combination too. Hearty pasta from Prive which left us surprised.

choco

Rich Chocolate Cake ($8)

Possibly as tall and thick as Death by Chocolate by Prive, this multi layer chocolate cake was all of rich and delicious. As unforgettable as the chocolate mousse cake from Roadhouse.

smores

The first Smores cupcake that was mistakenly dished up...well for as long as this shot lasted.

pb jelly

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake ($4)

I can hardly say no to cupcakes, not to a glass pane full of them. So dry and the jelly consisted of diced cherries which were artificial in taste.

Desserts have been raved about but pick them wisely as with the mains. Lovely place to chill and unwind. Service is not fabulous top notch, especially when the lack of lighting at the expense of a romantic atmosphere is an excuse for slower service. I chanced upon TCC located on the second floor…that’s a cheaper alternative for a great view of the bay!
