Donq Bakery joins Peck and Four leaves as the two bakeries within the basement of Takashimaya. With its French origins and high media coverage, it is no wonder that their breads are snapped up so quickly.
Fromage Coupe ($2.40)
This is perhaps no new creation but they have a
grasp of what consumers prefer – enough cheese chunks to go with the
dense and chewy French bread. Every bite had cheese – awesome stuff!
Croissant Saucisse ($3.60)
While we all think the French must know their
croissants well, this fared less outstandingly. Sausage was lacking in
bite and flavour and the croissant a tad flimsy.
Cannot wait to check out their other offerings soon!
Somewhere within the Takashimaya basement is Mini
One, replacing Beard Papa. I did not know both are related! Goes by
weight that that’s when the realisation of how pricey it is hits you at
the cashier.
Sweet Potato.
Chocolate
Imo mocha (105 grams for $3.15)
These chewy delights are similar to Provence
Bakery’s mocha buns and come in two flavours – black sesame sweet potato
and chocolate. The latter was richer in flavour.
Mini croissant (100grams for $2.40)
Being mini means these tend to be overbaked. Within
the bag there were a couple of overbaked and over browned pieces which
were crispy but the rest were thankfully buttery and moist. Loved the
mild sweet glaze that comes with each mini
one.
Perfect for snacking, these are easy to pop in the mouth too!
