Famous Lor Mee and more @ Bedok

It was one of those mornings that I decided to forgo beauty sleep and head out with the parents for a hearty hawker breakfast. The Dad is a stickler for hawker breakfasts every weekend - the same old dish every single weekend and the Mom, like every other supportive wife tags along. That particular Saturday was an exception, they decided to break away from routine.

famous

Guess what I'd have from the Traditional Famous Hokkien Mee stall?

famous lor mee

Lor Mee ($3)...I kid you not. Lor Mee is acquired - the garlicky breath that I face after tucking into a hearty bowl is always a major turn off. This was alot toned down but with an amazingly flavoured broth, tasty dory fish fillets and springy noodles. YUM.

siewmais

Adventurous me decided to go for coffeeshop dimsum despite its drab outlook. Siewmai with leftover taste...ack!

paus

Paus to complete the dimsum breakfast.

custard pau

The sorriest custard paus alive. Yes indeed, there was no promise of molten anywhere but custard that looked stale. The fillings refused to budge with much pinching either. Bad move.

char siew pau

Finally a redeeming char siew pau that's worthy of some mention. Can rival Ho Kee or Teck Kee or even Tiong Bahru pau here. Delicious savoury char siew pau with a fluffy bun.
