Tatsuya Revisited @ Goodwood Park Hotel

Back at Tatsuya's for a christmas lunch, reservations are still highly recommended judging from the crowds. Counter seats and table seats were equally popular.

Back at the same cosy corner!

One of the many dignitaries who also adore Tatsuya.

napkins

Hand towels.

toothpicks

Toothpicks and soy sauce, though no relation.

Flip it over for lunch bento sets or head ala carte and be pampered by the chef!

Chawanmushi that accompanied all sets. Liked the faint zesty fragrance and taste which reminded me of Japan, greatly. Light wobbly custard with an unmistakenable fragrance.

sashimi

Sashimi Unajyu Bento ($30.90)

The main draw of this set - sashimi air flown from Tsukiji and Fukuoka market. I miss Tsukiji market so! Never ever look at sashimi the same way again, most unfortunately.

sushi set

Sushi Bento ($30.90)
Likewise, the sashimi is so fresh, sushi hardly tastes the same again. The companion was pleased as punch.

sushi galore

Ladies Lunch Set ($26.80)

The ladies lunch set came with sushi and seafood pancake. Sushi once again wowed. Seafood pancake had korean hints to it but I loved the juicy seafood chunks and how this was still crisp after laying out in the cold.
quail egg

Raw quail egg to mix in with the dipping sauce - does wonders to it! Though I would never eat an raw egg without gagging.
oodles

And a portion of inaniwa udon. Sooooo good!

noodles

Slurp it all up!

fruits

Portion of fruits that came with it. Possibly the only part of the meal that fell short of expectations.

icecream

The waitresses took eternity of a lifetime to present a dessert menu and waited for us to decide on cheesecake and pudding, only to be met with a straightfaced "We are only left with icecream."

Honestly, then say so earlier!

Black sesame icecream and green tea with red bean both had their fans. I personally favoured black sesame for the rich creamy taste and fragrance.

The great thing about their bento sets is the numerous compartments of bite-sized heavenly portions which comes at pocket friendly prices. The amazing part about their bento sets is, everything tastes so good! Having a bit of everything is still my notion, until the next visit for ala carte perhaps. I have heard so much about their famed ala carte dishes that it is high time for one!

  1. I so love the caramel vanilla bean pudding! Best E.V.E.R. I'll have that for dessert every visit. You must try next time!
