We were in complete luck with this particular beef noodle store - 30 years in heritage and guaranteed good by the cabdriver. I trust the cabbies quite a bit when it comes to sussing out great eats, afterall they are on the road most of the time and surely know what is good...no? 福哥牛肉麵 in Ruifang we headed!
The humble stall that specialised in beef noodle.
An appetizer of century egg (NTD 15 each) served chilled and absolutely tasty.
I have to point out there is a stark difference between 牛肉麵 and 牛肉汤麵. As Singaporeans would interpret is as noodle dry and soup respectively, the taiwanese's interpretation is literally 牛肉汤 with 麵 for the latter, loosely as beef soup with noodle. Hence, the latter would not get any beef in it!
Here's 牛肉麵 with the beef. Incredibly tasty broth, methinks it has been simmering for hours and absorbing all the wondrous flavours. Slurpworthy bouncy noodles and for the first time, beef with tendons that was melt in my mouth. One thing though, I am a fan of five spices powder which they used quite generously in the noodles so for non-fans, it may be an overkill.

We stopped by at Fu Ge during our trip to Shifen too. We love the chunky beef too :-D
