Peperoni Revisited @ Greenwood Avenue

peperoni pizzeria

The work peeps wanted a place to unwind and binge so Peperoni came to mind...for their larger than life pizzas...21 inches, holy moley! Fairly packed for a weekday night, reservations are encouraged.

Wall of artwork..

Passe crayons for doodling.

calamari

Deep fried squid rings; lemon and mayo, arrabiata sauce ($14)

The fragrance was so fetching...I would have reached for one and hecked the pimple outbreak. The companions loved it to bits.

roll ups

Panfried mozzarella wrapped with parma ham ($18)

Three roll ups and that was it. I eyed the pricey rolls surreptitiously and with a raised eyebrow.

parma ham mozarella

Sinking the pearlies into them had to be the most anticipated moment of the meal..crispy parma ham meats melted mozzarella. Food porn, truly. Parma ham panfried tastes really like bacon...which made it such a waste..but well sin at its max..absolutely faultless.

fried portebello

Fried Portobello with chicken and  red wine ($18)

After the bread crumbs and frying, the portobello mushroom swelled to such greatness...it resembled a kidney pie. I L.O.V.E. Portobello...even more so when it's fried!

portebello sliced

Mushrooms never tasted this good till portobello...yummeh! It was a nice balance with the mildly flavoured chicken slivers.

chicken wings

Chicken Wings ($8)

Ordered this to accompany the glasses of Hoegaarden, simply pub grub.

21 inches

Pancetta
Pancetta, diced tomato and soft egg

The soft egg inked the choice for pizza flavour.

Prosciutto and Funghi
Ham and mushroom

Of the two, pancetta was a hotter flavour favourite. My main grouse about Pepperoni's large pizzas is the center tends to get soggy, unavoidably. Unless you are a fan of soft bread bases...I would suggest ordering the not so novel small sized pizzas. Their pizza base comprises of thin dough, crispy on the outside and chewy if not soggy inside.

XXL ($50)

creme brulee

Creme Brulee ($9)

Took two attempts to get it right, the first arrived overcooked with a curd so stiff...it was stiffer than old soyabeancurd. The second was just perfect, velvety smooth.

frangipane

Frangipane ($12)
Warm almond cake with raspberry sauce served with vanilla ice cream

The bestest for the night! I was expecting warm almond cake to have the same texture as suggee cake yet this was really goood! Buttery and soft almond cake with a fragrance so irresistible,

panna cotta

Panna Cotta ($9)

Not the bestest attempted but this was decent.

tiramisu

Tiramisu ($11)

Another decent but that was it.

Service at Peperoni is warm and helpful..another of the casual pizza joints that fills up quite quickly into the night. Unless for novelty of huge ass pizzas, I am satisfied with Al Forno a stone's throw away from the house!
