Torikizoku @ Omotesando

The only form of yakitori I ever know of is Tori-Q though Nanbentei has been (and still is!) on the to-try list for eons. Like lok-lok, yakitori is the Japanese version of grilled food. Torikizu is highly reccommended across forums and food blogs for affordable and delicious yakitori.

I have to reiterate how lovely and helpful Japanese are. One nightclub vale boy and one bouncer later, we found ourselves right at the doorstep of Torikizu! Hooray. They were full for the night and the apologetic waiter could hardly give us an estimated waiting time. With three tables' worth of people queueing infront of us, it looked like a long wait ahead.

In true Singaporean style, wait we did.

Torikizu is actually a bar cum cafe where mostly office workers hang out, pig out on barbequed skewers, drink to their hearts content and possibly smoke their lungs away.

And the other reason why it's so wildly popular. 280 yen per plate. Not the cheapest in town per se but fairly reasonable!

Holysmokes awesome! Tender chicken with an awesome smokey fragrance to beat.

Moderate portion of rice with broiled chicken, albeit on the bland side but oh so wholesome.

Loved this! Everything came together so well, hearty is just the word to describe this.

Chicken Balls with Cheese

Yummy combination, minced chicken ball smothered with melted cheese...

Dinner at Torikizu was exactly like what the rest say, affordable and delicious...even if it means walking out smelling like the barbeque pit. Well worth the experience.
